Culinary shortcuts

A few thoughts after two meals in the cafeteria:

cottage cheese ≠ feta cheese

water & italian dressing ≠ vinegarette

smoke flavoring and canned salmon ≠ smoked salmon

bucket-mayo ≠ sushi filler

That’ll teach me for branching out. Should have stuck with the burrito.

  1. One would have thought that 2 years of eating dorm food would have been enough to put you off of that junk forever.

  2. This was cottage cheese in a “Greek” salad. It was the blandest salad ever. I guess they assume that only people on diets buy salads.

    That doesn’t explain the Asian Chicken Salad covered in the super syrupy sugarfied “salad dressing”. The sushi at the cafeteria was always pretty awful. The worst was the “spicy tuna roll” made with canned tuna and a splotch of generic hot sauce on top.

  4. I kind of like their sushi, but I get the veggie kind and save the fish for sushi restaurants. But I’m 7 lbs. less these days for biking and not eating there, save for rare times.
