Mason Bees

Alan was kind enough to share some Mason Bee Larvae with me in the form of a log with mudded up holes in it. I’m trying to find the ideal spot for it where the larvae won’t get wet.

He also pointed out an article in the Home & Garden & Advertising Blitz section of the Oregonian talking about Mason bees and their shelters. According to the picture, they live in clumps of cigarettes.

  1. Oh, that was very kind of him. Everyone loves more stinging insects around their homes.

  2. They’re pacifistic bees. They’re not supposed to sting unless you get them in your clothes.

  3. The part about cigarettes, sounds to me like a classic example of evolution at its best.
