Welcoming Ella

Michelle and I welcomed Ella Freed to the family this afternoon at 2:22pm. She is far more beautiful than either of us imagined and is just the most amazing thing I think I’ve ever seen. Michelle is recovering well despite being thoroughly exhausted.

Ella was born 6lbs, 12oz at 19.5 inches. She’s slight and fits perfectly in our arms. I’m not sure what I expected, but I’m just smitten. Several friends and family members have been on hand to see our little girl, but here’s a quick preview. You know more pictures will follow once we start thinking straight.

  1. Congratulations to you and Michelle! Ella is a very lucky girl to have such wonderful people as her parents!

  2. I am so happy for all of you. Looking forward to more pictures. If you think you’re smitten now just wait-it gets better and better everyday.

  3. Congratulations Andy! I’m so happy for you and Michelle and happy to hear that Elli arrived healthy and beautiful.

  4. Congrats to the three of you – what a wonderful and beautiful family. Ella is one lucky girl.

  5. Once you two start thinking straight?

But Andy, you’re now the parents of a girl whose lineage nearly assures precocious brilliance… ;)

CONGRATULATIONS, Ella. Karma brings your spirit to a worldly and loving home!

  6. Congrats Andy and Michelle and welcome to little Ella!! Enjoy the time and we look forward to more pictures and news.

  7. W00t! :-)

Congratulations to the three of you!

By the way, that has to be one of the best “new mom in the hospital bed with baby” pictures I’ve ever seen.

  8. okay, someone has to say it: 29.5 inches?!?! I guess this falls under “when we start thinking straight again” category? Love to all three of you!

  9. Such a cutie pie! Great shot of the poop; I assume it was her first. Also good to know that she’s only 19.5 inches. I was a bit concerned (and impressed) for a while. Also, did Michelle give birth in a castle, or was that the hospital in the slide show to the right?

Congratulations Andy and Michelle! And welcome to the world Ella!

  10. Congrats again you too. My cousin had her second child last week. You lucked out because hers was over nine pounds. Love the photos. You both look thrilled, if a bit tired.

  11. Congrats, Andy and Michelle! I agree that holding your newborn in your arms for the first time is the most amazing feeling you will ever have. I can still remember *exactly* what it felt like over 12 years ago.

  12. She’s SOOOO beautiful!
    Welcome to Earth, sweet Ella!

PS. Maia would like to tell Ella that standing up rocks, but nothing is as good as your ma and pa:)

  13. Andy,
Congratulation and welcome to the new Daddy club! Be sure to take a nap while Ella is sleeping. Your old friend in Houston. PL

  14. Congratulations! Ella truly is beautiful! You’re so right about not being able to predict how much you will love your child; it’s not describable. Surprising and overwhelming. And guess what? It happens again when your grandchildren arrive.

  15. Congratulations, we are so happy for you! Ella is such a beautiful baby, I can’t wait to meet her! Enjoy every moment with your new pride and joy…..and try your best to get some sleep!! One thing I have to ask though is how is Barley handling all of this?

  16. Though I’ve been at a “technology” conference in DC, I’ve been in a hotel that charges .59 per minute, so unable to check in until now. Your daughter is beautiful and sweet like the two of you. I just met my new nephew too. Being an uncle sure is easy :)
