Limbo

The dirty secret is that we were given 2 due dates. The 14th and the 19th. We preferred the 14th because it was earlier, calculated by a brand new ultrasound machine and confirmed by a great doctor. Then, Michelle’s work changed health insurance carriers and we got switched back to Kaiser, who pushed the date back and has been much less involved than the previous doctor.

I didn’t think to take a picture with no fingers up, and I’m not sure how to signify limbo with just fingers. I’m going to wait until at least Wednesday until I start counting back up. Depending how our next doctor appointment goes, I may decided to work a day or two just to spare some time.

As mentioned – we decided to completely redo the bedroom walls and ceiling figuring that tearing the room apart would invoke Murphy’s law and force the baby to come. Turns out “winning” when you gamble with Murphy’s law isn’t much of a victory. The room is back together and looks nice, and now we have a very quiet ceiling fan as well.

  1. That is the horrible thing about “due” dates. You start planning that as your date (instead of an approximate date) and then are horribly disappointed when the day comes and goes with no baby. I’m sure Troy and I will be there experiencing the same thing next month. I thought the home project would work for sure – sorry :(

  2. I think I cried when Howie didn’t come on his due date and everyday after that. No bribing or promises made the kid budge…hmmm guess I should have guessed he was going to be stubborn. I hope your doctor is really open to inducing…mine wanted to wait another two weeks but Ben was firm and was like hell no I’m not putting up with this crap anymore! I hope Ella comes soon because I know how slow time goes by…i thought I heard wine was a good way to start labor : )

  3. Michelle must just have some kind of SuperWomb complete with XBOX 360, stereo surround, and a beer fridge. The kind of womb she just doesn’t want to climb out of. Or maybe she’s just shy. Maybe the baby will feel better about coming out if it could imagine everyone in their underwear. Help it along by just being in nothing but underwear all the time.

  4. Even our waitress at Concordia who was due two weeks after Michelle gave birth over the weekend. It was a breach/c-section, but C’Mon!

  5. Man, if you really want her to get that kid out of there you need to start pushing on her belly at night when she is asleep. Its kinda crude and old fashioned, but it will get the job done.

  6. We have a dr appt this morning and I told Andy that I was going to need help trying to talk the doctor into inducing me. She wants to check me again on the 23rd, then set an appt for induction. THE 23RD, THEN SET AN APPT?

  7. How could you bring on that kinda pain on purpose? If it were me, which thankfully it will never be, I would delay the inevitable for as long as I could. I’m talking years. I would just clench real tight and say “no, your staying in there”, at least until they are potty trained and walking.

  8. Just heard the news. Congratulations, you guys! So did they induce or did Ella finally decide to ride the waterslide?
